WINFIELD, Kan. (April 25, 2015) – Oklahoma Christian sprinters
Jamal George,
Joshua Jones and
Kentrell Miller each posted at least one career-best time to lead the Eagles on Saturday in the Southwestern Relays.
George, a senior from Dallas, recorded a career-best time in the 100 meters of 11.08 seconds (placing fourth) and his 200-meter time of 22.75 seconds was just .01 of a second off his top mark in that event. He's qualified to run in both races next week at the National Christian College Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Rome, Ga.
Jones, a sophomore from Escondido, Calif., ran a sub-50-second 400 meters for the first time, taking second among 15 runners with a time of 49.72 seconds. He's also headed to Georgia next week.
Miller, in his first 100-meter race with the Eagles after transferring from Southern Nazarene, matched his career-best time of 11.18 seconds, set in 2012 while at SNU. Like George, the senior from Oklahoma City has qualified in both the 100 and 200 for the national meet.
OC freshman
Sisay Gillock improved his ranking for the national meet in the 1,500 meters with a career-best time of 4:07.14, placing him fourth among 23 runners on Saturday.
Freshman
Landon Huslig tuned up for next week's national 110-meter hurdles race by posting a time of 15.27 seconds. Another freshman,
Adetoye Alao, did the same in the discus with a throw of 135 feet, 5¾ inches (41.30 meters). Both had already qualified for the NCCAA meet.
