EAST BRIDGEWATER – The search for a missing 16-year-old girl continued Friday after she disappeared over a week ago.

Shaina Hauter, an East Bridgewater native, was last seen on July 23 in Brockton. Rebecca Kovar, a public relations manager at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, said that Hauter is believed to have run away, but other details surrounding her disappearance were unavailable.

Despite receiving several tips about Hauter’s possible whereabouts, Kovar added that the girl remained missing as of Friday evening.

One of the tips, which was also reported to The Enterprise, came from Nashua, New Hampshire.

Prior to her disappearance, Hauter was a student at East Bridgewater Junior/Senior High School, where she was a member of the cheerleading team.

Attempts to contact the Hauter family Friday were unsuccessful.

A description given on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s website lists Hauter as 4-feet-11 and 100 pounds, with blonde hair and green eyes.

When she was last seen on July 23, she was wearing braces on her teeth.

Anyone who has seen Hauter is asked to call Brockton police at 508-941-0200. People may also go to www.missingkids.com and report a sighting on the website or call the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s hotline at 1-800-843-5678 (1-800-THE-LOST).
