Stacy Barthe Strips Down For StyleLikeU: 'I Want My Outside To Reflect How Colorful I Feel On The Inside'

'I Want My Outside To Reflect How Colorful I Feel On The Inside'

We're consistently in awe of StyleLikeU.com's "What’s Underneath Project" -- the riveting video series that captures style stars and notable creatives striping down to their underwear while sharing their stories of self discovery. These brave souls baring it all are just the reminder and inspiration we need to silence society's standards of beauty, or at least try to.

Case in point, singer/songwriter/producer Stacy Barthe, is the latest subject featured in "What's Underneath" who tells her tale of body acceptance.

Barthe's mother forced the curvy musician to get gastric bypass surgery at age 17. The procedure served only as a temporary fix since Barthe eventually gained the weight back. She also continued to struggle with the stress of the "mental weight" that never left. "I want my outside to reflect how colorful I feel on the inside," Barthe said in the video.

Barthe, who has worked with superstars like P.Diddy and Rihanna, eventually found that her talent for music was the key to her confidence."I'm finally in a place where I'm a work in progress and I'm ok with loving me in the meantime," she added. “I used to only recognize beauty in other things, but now I acknowledge the beauty in me.”

Check out the video above and let us know what you think of her story in the comments section below.
