Fraud charges, Townsville and Sunshine Coast

Police have charged a 32-year-old Victorian man following investigations in several alleged fraud related offences across Queensland in the past three years.

It will be alleged a man obtained more than $80,000 from victims in Townsville and the Sunshine Coast after purporting to carry out construction contracts however fleeing after receiving substantial deposits.

It will further be alleged the man fraudulently obtained goods at businesses in Townsville and the Sunshine Coast.

A 32-year-old man was arrested at the Brisbane Airport yesterday.

He was charged with 17 counts of fraud, two counts each of attempted fraud and failing to appear and one count each of stealing, forging a document and uttering a forged document and is expected to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
