The St. John Fisher College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Rochester Institute of Technology on Tuesday night in the Cardinals' home finale. Prior to the start of the match, the College recognized seniors
Paige Willson,
Jasmine Davis and
Lauren Rokjer, who played on Bobby Wanzer Court for the final time in their collegiate careers.
Fisher had its chances in the first two sets, but the Tigers pulled away in the closing moments. Fisher led 23-22 in the opening set, but R.I.T. rattled off three straight points to pick up the 25-23 win. In the second set, Fisher led 22-21 before the Tigers rallied for the 26-24 victory. In the third set, the score was tied at 17s before the Tigers (18-11) took the lead for good.
Willson and
Anna Marcy led Fisher (9-19) with nine kills. Rojker added five kills as well.
Freshman
Katie Mazierski was the only in double-digits in dig and tallied a team-high 20.
Madison Karwas led her team with two aces, while posting six kills.
Setters
Erica Stickler (13) and
Brooke Meader (11) combined for 24 assists.
Fisher returns to action at Utica College on Saturday in Empire 8 Conference action. The Cardinals will play the host Pioneers at 12 p.m. and will face Elmira College at 2:30 p.m.
