The flavors of the Atlantic are on display at Lolo's Seafood Shack, a new eatery in Harlem's growing Restaurant Row on 116th Street. Befitting its name, which refers to a traditional outdoor restaurant in the Caribbean, food offerings here include dishes from the region like conch fritters and jerk ribs, mingled with Northeast fare like seafood steampots and lobster rolls.
The casual space features local artwork on the walls and picnic tables and stools to park at and eat your grub. Signature items include Johnny Cakes ($4) with a side of honey butter or one of their housemade dipping sauces; Smoked Wings ($10) with an achiote glaze and garlic crema; and Shark + Bake ($11), puffy fried dough served with pan fried shark.
Steampots of seafood come with either Shrimp ($9), Snow Crab Legs ($19) or Crawfish ($10) with either garlic butter-Old Bay, ginger butter-scallion, coco curry or Lolo's special sauce on the side for dipping. Specials during opening seasons are a Lobster "Roll"—actually a Bake—with melted garlic butter, Old Bay, sliced avocado and lime zest remoulade and a Soft Shell Crab B[C]T with bacon, cabbage, tomato and some remoulade.
