After a dreadful start, finally my aurora season kicked off!! When I got in the car it was cloudy, but I was determined to find clear skies as I had high hopes for this night, with the IMF (Bz) and solar wind playing along. It was green above the clouds. And after some driving it cleared up, and right after riggin up the camera the most amazing display I have witnessed in a long time revealed in the arctic nightskies. This is one of many spectacular auroral displays I captured tonight. Red auroras, green auroras, coronas, fast moving purple bands... This was shot at a local frozen pond close to Tromso, Norway. Due to the intense exploding aurora and the green colors also coloring the dark surroundings I choose to call this shot "Emerald Dynamite" Ole Salomonsen fb.com/arcticlightphoto www.arcticlightphoto.no

Gorgeous photo, Ole! Thank you for sharing it. What camera settings do you use and what kind of camera equipment?

Thank you,
Renee

Thanks folks. Shot with a Sony A7R.

I notice that the colors in the shot on the front page of spacweather looks ok, altough in here the shoot looks very dark and over-saturated.

Dont know the valid reason for that.

Happy aurora-season you all!! :)
