Library Closed Presidents' Day

The main library and the Beverly Farms branch will be closed on Presidents' Day, Monday, February 15, 2016.

Tax Form Info
This year, the IRS will be sending a very limited quantity of Forms 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ  to the main library and the Farms branch (and all public libraries in general). Additionally, we will receive only one copy each of instructions for these forms, which we will make available at the main and Farms Reference desks for copying. We will also have Massachusetts state tax forms available. Please click here for additional information on ordering federal and state forms, filing your taxes, and other helpful info.  
3rd Annual "Bad Art" Night - Valentine Edition

Artist Visit: The Allure of Assateague Island

Join February artist Rob Franco for a presentation about the Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland. Mr. Franco will talk about his experiences visiting the island as both a tourist and an artist, including 10 years of experience painting the island's wild horse population. The presentation will also include a short National Park Service video; a "show & tell" of objects found along the Assateague shoreline, including shells and shipwreck artifacts; and Q & A. No signup required; appropriate for all ages. February Art @ the Main Library

Tranquil Scenes by Rob Franco
Sohier Room, February 2 through February 27, 2016
The main library is pleased to host an exhibit of vibrant oil paintings by Natick, MA artist Rob Franco this month. Tranquil bodies of water, boats, and wildlife including the wild ponies of Assateague Island, birds, and sea creatures are the subjects of Mr. Franco's paintings. Mr. Franco trained as an illustrator in the U. S. Air Force, worked as a graphic artist in the Boston area, and has studied under Albert Handell, David Ratner, and John Evans. The exhibit i s free and open to the public during regular library hours when library programs or community meetings are not in progress. Introduction to 3D Printing

Registration required. Join library director Patricia Cirone for an introduction to the basics of working with the library's MakerBot Replicator. The workshop is required if you wish to use the printer independently. A sampling of design software basics and downloading is also covered. Open to ages 10 and up; n o previous experience needed. Laptops/devices welcome. Opera Appreciation Spring 2016

Beginning Wednesday, March 16, 2016
Barnet Gallery, Main Library
Registration required. Are you a lifelong fan of opera, or is it a newly discovered fascination? Either way, you're invited to join a friendly group of kindred spirits at the main library for an 8-week course that explores eight operas. The course is taught by Peabody resident John Tischio. The group will meet for 8 consecutive weeks on Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8:30 PM (last meeting at the instructor's home). Calling All Teen Poets! 20th Annual Teen Poetry Contest
The library is currently accepting entries from local teens in grades 6 through 12 for our Annual Teen Poetry Contest! The contest will close for entries on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 4 PM. Complete information about the contest, including rules, prizes, submission form, and other details, is available here.

    Wed., February 17, 11 AM - 1:30 PM, Sohier Room
    A Feb. Vacation event! Join us for a free pizza lunch while watching this adventurous, sci-fi movie about an astronaut who gets stuck on Mars. 
  • Anime ClubTuesday, February 16 from 3:30 - 5:30 PM, Sohier Room. Join us to watch anime with other fans, and enjoy free snacks! No signup needed.

LEGO Club!

Winter Programs  are in session and will run through the week of February 22, 2016. These programs include:
  • Books & Babies and Toddler, Pre-School Story Times (specific times here)
  • "What's the Big Idea?" Math and Science Story Time: Wednesdays at 3:30 PM. Math and science are incorporated into a story time and activity. Registration not required. 
  • "Musical Mornings with Miz Liz," Saturday, February 13 @ 10 - 10:30 AM. A fun, interactive mix of children's sing-along music, movement, and literature. For kids 0-5 and their parents/caregivers. Registration not required.

“Cradles to Crayons/Boston Bruins PJ Drive” – February 1 - March 1
All through February, we're collecting new pajamas that will be given to children in the Commonwealth to keep them feeling warm and safe. The PJs will be distributed through the “Cradles to Crayons” organization. 

“Knit, Crochet & Embroider @ the Library”
Beginning Thursday, February 4 at 7 - 8:30 PM
This new group will meet the 1st Thursday of each month. For adults who enjoy all kinds of handwork or fiber arts. Bring your project, meet with other crafters, share ideas. Does not include instruction.

February Art Show: “Journeys," February 2 - 27
There are many kinds of journeys, physical, artistic, and spiritual among them. Suzanne Nichelson, JoAnne Fossa and Christina Fossa explore them in fiber, paint, collage and mixed media. Public  “Artists’ Reception” on Tuesday, February 16 from 6-8 PM - all welcome!
