The Youngest Convicted Killers In America’s History To Be Released From Prison Soon

In 1999, Catherine and Curtis Jones were arrested after murdering their father’s girlfriend, Sonya Nicole, in their Florida home in the United States.

The murderers were said to be aged 12 and 13 at the time. According to the account of the story, narrated by Fox News, the two originally planned to kill Nicole, their father and another male relative. They claimed the male relative had sexually abused them and that Nicole and their father did nothing to protect them.

It is said Catherine was the first to come up with the killing idea. It was reported that she wrote in her diary “I’m going to kill everybody.” She then told her brother, Curtis, who agreed to help her. They then began drawing up their plan. They stole their father’s gun and shot Nicole with it.

After killing Nicole, they became frightened and ran into the woods to avoid arrest. The police located them shortly after and arrested them.

When they were eventually put before a court of law, they pleaded to second-degree murder and were sentenced to 18 years in prison each. They therefore became the youngest convicts in America’s history.

Curtis will be released on July 28, 2015, while Catherine is set to be freed on August 1, 2015. They will be on probation for the rest of their lives.

Curtis is now a 29-year-old ordained minister of the Gospel. Catherine, on the other hand, is said to be married to a pen pal she corresponded with in prison. The Hellou News said her husband was a Navy officer who has retired from the military in order to help her adapt to her new social life, after spending 16 years in prison.

In an interview, Catherine told the Florida Today that she has missed many things in life, but is ready to start afresh. She was quoted as saying, “Of course there are fears. Mainly because there’s so much I must learn to function like a normal person: how to drive, fill out job applications, text, and dress for a job interview, build my credit.
