Making The Most Of Its Opportunities, JCU Women's Soccer Posts First Win Of 2014

Taylor Tercek and the JCU defense withstood the Transylvania attack which produced 14 shots
Box Score As the game of soccer always plays out, it is not who takes the most shots that counts but who makes the most.

Such was the case today in Lexington, Kentucky, as visiting John Carroll posted a 2-1 victory over host Transylvania.

Goals by Justina Fortson in the 11th minute and Danielle Sharbaugh in the 51st proved to be enough to withstand a furious rally by the Pioneers that resulted in a goal in the 78th minute and several chances in the waning moments.

Haley McDonald made eight saves to help JCU post its first win of the 2014 campaign. Transylvania fell to 1-1 with the loss.

John Carroll had five shots on goal and nine overall, while the Pioneers countered with 14 shots, inclusing nine on goal.
