Update: Serious traffic crash, Tannum Sands

A man has died following a traffic crash near Tannum Sands yesterday afternoon.

Around 5.30pm, a ute and a truck have collided south of Tannum Sands on the Bruce highway.

The 26-year-old Booval man and single occupant of the ute sustained life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The truck driver was transported to hospital for observation.

The highway was closed in both directions for a number of hours, but has since re opened.

The Forensic Crash Unit continues to investigate.
