INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's soccer team will cap the 2014 exhibition slate on Friday (Aug. 24) night when the Jaguars host SIU Edwardsville at Michael A. Carroll Stadium at 7:00 p.m.. The Jaguars dropped a 2-1 decision to Northern Illinois on Tuesday night in a match shortened to 78 minutes due to inclement weather. 

"We're excited to have another opportunity to play on our home turf and to see where we stand against another quality opponent," IUPUI Head Coach Isang Jacob said. "We're hoping to see a lot of guys again and continue to look at a lot of different combinations. 

"The goal is to see some things and ultimately, come out of the game healthy and ready for the season."

In addition to a highly regarded recruiting class, the Jaguars are expected to be led by the junior trio of Lance Davis, Clint Hoffar and goalie Eduardo Cortes. 

The Jaguars lost a 1-0 preseason contest at SIUE last season. The Cougars went 8-9-2 last season and were recently picked to finish fifth in the seven team Missouri Valley Conference this season. SIUE is expected to be led by seniors Matt Polster (4 assists) and Christian Volesky (6 goals) this season. Polster was named to the NSCAA/MAC Hermann Trophy watch list earlier this season.
