Don't Let Gas and Oil Companies Kill Endangered Bats!

A new proposal would let gas and oil companies kill Pennsylvania's endangered bats by destroying their habitats as part of the construction process.

Nine gas and oil companies have requested an Incidental Take Permit, which would exempt them from endangered species protection laws. This would allow them to kill five species of endangered bats over a period of 50 years as a casualty of their construction process.

Many of these bats have already declined in numbers from disease and human activity. For example, white nose disease has recently killed a whopping 98 percent of Pennsylvania's hibernating bats.

Pennsylvania needs increased protections to save their endangered bats. Granting an Incidental Take Permit could push bat populations over the edge. Please sign the petition to urge the Fish and Wildlife Service to put our native wildlife above big business and reject proposals to kill endangered bats!

I am deeply concerned about a new proposal that would let gas and oil companies kill Pennsylvania's endangered bats by destroying their habitats as part of the construction process.

I respectfully urge you to put our native wildlife above big business and reject proposals to kill endangered bats. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider this petition.
