Joe Barile, BCE, Bayer Environmental Science
General Entomology for PMPs
What the urban Pest Management Professional needs to know about practical entomology: arthropod characteristics; insect anatomy, physiology, life cycles, environmental niche; taxonomy and representative orders. Learn from a great entomologist and educator.
Joe Barile is the Technical Service Lead for Bayer Environmental Science’s Professional Products Division. His responsibilities include providing technical and training support to the internal BES staff and externally to Pest Management Professionals and public vector control agencies in the United States and Canada. Mr. Barile holds a degree in Entomology from the University of Massachusetts. He has been involved in urban and public health pest management since 1979 holding positions with major IPM product manufacturers, in public mosquito control, as a university extension entomologist, as a pest control technician and as the technical director of a multi-branch pest control firm. Mr. Barile is a member of the Entomological Society of America, is a Board Certified Entomologist, and a member of the American Mosquito Control Association. We are pleased to have Joe present once again at the New York Pest Expo.

Dr. Bobby Corrigan is the Director of RMC Pest Management Consulting, Richmond, IN. He has published over 150 technical publications in pest control and is a regular contributor and columnist for Pest Control Technology and Pest Management Professional. Dr. Corrigan is the author of Rodent Pest Management: A Practical Guide for Pest Management Professionals; the Mallis Handbook of Pest Control on rodents; and co-author of The Scientific Guide to Pest Control Operations. In 2008, Bobby was inducted into the Pest Management Hall of Fame. This is Bobby’s third appearance at the Expo.

Jeff McGovern has 40 years of experience in pest management . A frequent speaker at the Purdue Conference, he has an excellent reputation for providing clear and engaging presentations. He has collaborated with USDA scientists and researchers in the areas of pest control, sanitation and food handling. He has authored a number of articles on pest control and currently writes the “Fact vs. Fiction” column for PMP Magazine. This is his third appearance as a speaker at the New York Pest Expo.

Dan brings over 20 years of experience in accounting and managing high growth pest control companies. As an owner, manager, chief financial officer and industry consultant he has been involved with the development of several pest control companies from inception to the $15 million in annual sales levels and beyond. Dan is the managing member and is responsible for all aspects of client work at PCO Bookkeepers, an accounting firm dedicated to helping PCOs grow. This is Dan’s first presentation at the New York Pest Expo.

Dr. Bill Robinson is the Technical Director of B&G Equipment Company. He has served as a Professor and Director of the Urban Pest Control Research Center at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He is also a Visiting Professor at Zhejiang University, China. Dr. Robinson is the author of over 200 papers in scientific and trade journals in the U.S., Europe and Asia. His most recent book Service Technician’s Field Manual, was published in 2011. Along with Lou Sorkin, Dr. Bill has the record for the most presentations offered at the New York Pest Expo.

Dr. Nicky Gallagher joined Syngenta Professional Products in 2012 and serves as the Technical Services Manager for the Midwest and Northeast Professional Pest Management market. Dr. Gallagher has a strong background in urban entomology with over 10 years’ experience (and a particular fondness for termites). Dr. Gallagher maintains responsibility for all phases of field testing and technical support within her region and coordinates numerous research programs with university researchers and cooperators. Dr. Gallagher holds a B.S. from the College of Mount Saint Joseph (Cincinnati, Ohio), along with an M.S. and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio). This is Dr. Gallagher’s first presentation at the New York Pest Expo.
Lou Sorkin, BCE, Entsult Associates, Inc.

Lou Sorkin, a Board Certified Entomologist, began his career at the American Museum of Natural History in 1978. He has been the treasurer for the New York Entomological Society for more than 25 years and is the founder of Entsult Associates, Inc., an entomology consulting company. A popular lecturer on medical, veterinary, and forensic entomology, Mr. Sorkin has appeared on a number of television, radio and internet interviews, he has also been a featured speaker at the New York Pest Expo for the last seven years. Mr. Sorkin is one of the nation’s leading figures in the study of bed bug behavior and biology. He has co-authored many papers and abstracts dealing with spiders, flies, mites and ticks, and has a special interest in the use of insects as food, a discipline called entomophagy. Along with Dr. Bill Robinson, Lou has the record for the most presentations offered at the New York Pest Expo.
