Warped 'Logic"!

The government said it came to the conclusion that Xavier Justo tampered with the emails and documents relating to 1MDB based on “logical assumption”.

Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said this when asked about the investigation on PetroSaudi International’s ex-director which followed claims made by a private company- Protection Group International (PGI).

“It’s very simple, the person arrested was Xavier and the documents seems to be from him.

“So, we cannot assume anything else than he had tampered with the documents,” he told a press conference at Putrajaya today.

However, Wan Junaidi said this is subject to the investigation conducted by the Thai authority.

“Everything we said here and do were based on logical assumption, on how the things could have happened,” he noted.

Maybe documents will appear soon

Despite Thai police saying the arrest of Justo revolved around the Swiss citizen’s alleged attempt to blackmail his former employer using the leaked information, Wan Junaidi said the Thai counterpart may later produce in court the tampered documents as evidence.

“Of course the investigating authority would not make any speculation in their newspapers. Perhaps (tampered documents) will be (known) when they bring (it) to the court later, but not before.

“That is to protect their credibility,” replied Wan Junaidy, who is also the Santubong MP. Wan Junaidi, however, did not reveal how Justo had tempered the document.

Our comment

So, the Malaysian Government’s libellous allegation against Sarawak Report of the past few days has been toned down to an “assumption”.

Why don’t these guys think before they speak?

Imagine if Sarawak Report had never always checked its facts scrupulously and sought out corroborative evidence before printing things.  We would have been sued to Heaven and Hell and back, by these wealthy entities.

The Thai’s have made clear they arrested Justo on the basis of ‘blackmail’ allegations by PetroSaudi representatives.

They have specifically said they are not investigating anything else, let alone the leaking of documents or alleged “tampering” thereof.

In fact, there is no evidence that the Thais have even accessed any such documents.

No wonder Mr Junaidi is backtracking.

But, look at the mess their arguments are now currently in – Junaidi says that because Justo has been arrested for alleged blackmail threats (as yet unproven) he and his fellow ministers have made a “logical conclusion” that he was “tampering” with leaked documents.

If this is the sort of “logic” that is running Malaysia, God help the country!
