Mechanical engineering students of DLSU staging car show this weekend

Called 'Automized: 5th Gear'

Automized: 5th Gear

Wow. This weekend is going to be very confusing for gearheads. Aside from the opening round of the 2015 Vios Cup at Clark International Speedway, there's some serious automotive action going down at the CCP Complex in Manila.

Earlier, we told you about the first leg of this year's Hyundai Lateral Drift Pro-Am Championship Series, which will be held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Well, it turns out this drifting event coincides--a partner event, to be precise--with "Automized: 5th Gear," a car show organized by the Mechanical Engineering Society of De La Salle University. To be staged at Harbour Square within CCP Complex also on March 21, the show will feature "tuned-up cars" that will vie for the following awards:

* Best Exotic Car
* Best Old-School Car
* Best Rally- or Off-Road-Themed Car
* Loudest Engine Roar
* Best in Show

Admission for visitors costs a mere P50. According to the organizers, the "gates will open as early as 9am for car participants, and 11am for spectators."

If you're not driving out of town this weekend and you want something to do that will fuel your motoring passion, check out this car show. We're one of the media partners of this event, so it promises to be worth the trip.
