N. CHILI, N.Y. -- A goal in each half gave the host and top seed Roberts Wesleyan College a 2-0 win over #3 Houghton College in the championship game of the NCCAA Division I Men's Soccer East Region on Saturday.
The Redhawks grabbed a 1-0 lead with a tally in the 45h minute and put the game away with a second goal with just 48 seconds to go in the contest.
Shots were even at 11 for each team. Houghton held a 5-3 shots advantage in the first half with Roberts outshooting Houghton 8-6 over the final 45 minutes.
Jacob Dunnett (Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Kennebecasis) made three stops in net.
The Highlanders finish their season with a record of 9-9-2. The Redhawks improve to 11-6-2 and advance to the NCCAA National Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla.
