The Chamber of Commerce Hawaii, in partnership with the Mayor of the City & County of Honolulu, is pleased to present complimentary seminars designed to provide small businesses with information and tools needed to start, develop and grow their businesses.

Limited seating is available in each seminar so pre-registration is required. Chamber members receive early registration access until Thursday, September 18, 2014, after which registration will be open to the general public.

Please click on hyperlinks below to select the sessions you wish to attend. Please choose only ONE option for each time frame. Note some sessions have a nominal fee, however, most are offered at no charge.


 Program:

7:30-8:00 am:  Registration/Exhibition Opens

8:00-8:45 am:  Session I (All sessions are complimentary. Please choose ONE session during this timeframe.)

a) Marketing 101:  The basics for small biz marketing. Speakers are Barbara Pleadwell, Partner, Hastings and Pleadwell and Doug Harris, Founder and CEO, Harris Agency.

b) How a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) Can Help Your Business. Speakers are Barron Guss, President & CEO, simplicityHR by Altres; Sanjay Mirchandani, Owner, Talent HR Solutions; Sebastian Sainz, Director of Payroll Operations, ProService Hawaii; and The Hawaii Group.

c) Manufacturing in Hawaii:  Services available to help your business. Speakers are Wayne Inouye, Manufacturing Extension Partnership Center Director, INNOVATE Hawaii; Mark Ritchie, Business Support Branch Chief, Business Development and Support Division, State of Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism; and David Sikkink, Acting Administrator, Hawaii Foreign-Trade Zone No. 9.

b) Happiness U: Creating a positive workplace & Building the Aloha Spirit into Your Business Model. Speakers are Alice Inoue, Chief Happiness Officer and Ramsay Taum, President and CEO, Life Enhancement Institute of the Pacific.

c) Energy in Business:  How to read your bill and control your costs. Speakers are Mark Ausbeck, Senior Project Manager, INNOVATE Hawaii and Michael Chang, Deputy Program Director, Hawaii Energy.

a) How to Get a State Subsidy on Your Prepaid Healthcare Premiums. Speakers is Ed Wang, Prepaid Health Care Program Chief, Department of Labor & Industrial Relations.

b) How to Save Money on Your Energy Bill with Grants from the Government. Speaker is Michael Chang, Deputy Program Director, Hawaii Energy.

c) 1:15-2:45 pm: Running a Medical Practice: Employment 101, insurance for employers, management, overhead issues  and contracts. Presented in partnership with Hawaii Medical Association. Speakers are John Knorek, Director, Torkildson, Katz, Moore, Hetherington, and Harris and Rick Piper, Senior Business Development Manager, ProService Hawaii. COST: $10 for Chamber & HMA Members, $25 for non-members.

2:00-2:15 pm:  Networking and Exhibitions

2:15-3:00 pm:  Session VI (All sessions are complimentary. Please choose ONE session during this timeframe.)

a) Crowdfunding. Speaker is Nicholas von Wiegandt, Co-Founder, Island Funder.
