Assault and robbery, Kingston

Police are investigating an alleged assault and robbery in Kingston overnight.

Initial investigations suggest that around 1.15am a taxi driver was assaulted by two male passengers in Kingston. It is alleged the men punched the driver and stole a sum of cash.

It is further alleged after assaulting the driver the men then pulled him out of the vehicle and drove away in the taxi. The vehicle was located a short distance away.

As a result of the incident the driver suffered facial injuries and was taken to the Logan Hospital for treatment.

Police investigations are continuing to locate the two men.
