Yolo Food Bank will be hosting its 4th Annual Thanksgiving Holiday Food Distribution.

This year, Yolo Food Bank will distribute 2,000 meal kits to Yolo County residents today.

According to the Food Bank, this is a 42 percent increase from the 1,405 meal kits distributed last year. Each meal kit will include a turkey, an assortment of seasonal fresh produce and a variety of non-perishable goods.

On Saturday, Yolo Food Bank will pass out 500 meal kits from its warehouse at 233 Harter Ave. This event starts at 8 a.m. with food distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until all meals are passed out.

All participants are required to bring proof of Yolo County residency such as a driver”s license or some other identification.

In and effort to reach all areas in Yolo County, Yolo Food Bank will be partnering with four agencies to distribute holiday meals. These partner agencies include Yolo County Children”s Alliance (serving Clarksburg and West Sacramento), Pole Line Road Baptist Church (serving Davis), RISE (serving Esparto and Winters) and Family Action Center of Colusa County (serving Dunnigan). In addition, Yolo Food Bank will pass out holiday meals at our Emergency Food Assistance Program distributions located in Guinda, Knights Landing and Yolo.

“It is our honor and pleasure to be able to provide all of the ingredients for a complete Thanksgiving feast to the residents of our county, who are in need,” stated Kevin Sanchez, executive director of the Food Bank. “We are especially grateful to the members of the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation for their steadfast support of this endeavor.”

This Fall Holiday Food Distribution would not be possible without the support of sponsors including the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, Walmart, Woodland Presbyterian Church, United Christian Center, Davis Food Co-op, Grocery Outlet and the continuous support from our volunteers and local businesses.

Through its programs and partnerships with 60 nonprofit partner agencies, Yolo Food Bank serves 23,000 residents each month and distributes over three million pounds of food annually. Yolo Food Bank”s mission is to alleviate hunger and malnutrition in Yolo County and the Thanksgiving Holiday Food Distribution is another way that Yolo Food Bank is able to reach that goal.
