Old Takoma Ace Hardware To Hold Blood Drive Saturday

The blood drive will support the Children's Miracle Network at Children's National.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — Old Takoma Ace Hardware is holding a blood drive for the Children's Miracle Network at Children's National 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Children’s National is a member of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, which raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada.

Blood donations will stay local. With this support, Children’s National and other leading children’s hospitals fund critical treatments, ground-breaking research and support DMV families.

Donors should avoid fatty foods like hamburgers, fries or ice cream before donating, because if there's too much fat in the blood the donation cannot be tested for infectious diseases.

After donating blood, donors should drink an extra four (8 ounce) glasses of liquids and avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
