For sure. IMO the live coverage was like a boring watered down version of DH, but a one minute recap is obviously not enough to capture all the goods of an EWS race. Hopefully someone will figure out a good way to cover enduro races because no one seems to have done it right yet.
@regdunlop "IMO the live coverage was like a boring watered down version of DH". Well the riding is like a boring watered-down version of DH... Due to the punishing nature of the course, the lack of practice time and access to mechanics, riders can't ride the whole timed track at 100% pace. They have to be more conservative to save themselves and the bikes.
It's like comparing WRC to rallycross... WRC has long stages, limited access to mechanical assistance and need to carry spares in-car, whereas rally-cross has unrestricted cars, infinite access to mechanics and long practice sessions on a short stage. WRC stages are harder for media cover and drivers have to pace themselves, rallycross is a guts and glory sprint on a single circuit with great media access.
There will be a longer highlights film coming out shortly, we have the editor locked in a cage, being fed on room service and fruit smoothies, poor lad.
This will the be the case at all rounds, a one minute film like this asap after the race and then a more in-depth highlights look at the weekend shortly after, normally the next day.
Glad you agree it's tough to cover, we end up running round the mountain like lunatics but hopefully we get somewhere close to letting you see all that's going on.
I watch WRC races all the time and they are packaged in an entertaining and concise way showing the crucial moments of each stage. (Not live though). Can't we have the same thing for enduro? Not the same money I guess.
