Hello Wine Lovers,

The Tasting on Thursday October 23 at 7:PM featuring Field Recordings: Micro-Production Winery, falls on World Series off day.   We will serve light food with the 10 wines found at the bottom of the page.  Please make reservations by calling the shop 442-2207 between the hours of 11am and 6pm Tuesday through Saturday. Sorry , but I do not accept reservations via email.

Here is a short note from the Winery website about the project...

Field Recordings  is 33-year old winemaker Andrew Jones' personal catalog of the people and places he values most. Spending his days as a vine nursery fieldman planning and planting vineyards for farmers all over California, Andrew is sometimes offered small lots of their best fruit on the side. Having stood in just about every vineyard on the Central Coast, he has a keen eye for diamonds in the rough: sites that are unknown or under-appreciated but hold enormous untapped potential. As friendships are made and opportunities are embraced, Andrew produces small quantities of soulful  wine from these unusual, quiet vineyards.

Hope many of you can make the tasting.  Thank you for supporting indepentently owned and operated businesses.

Best,  Paul Vernon

 New Wines to Top Ten

Red Rhone, Petite Sirah, California and New Zealand Pinot Noir

Above are images of 4 new wines that will be in the shop on Saturday. I tasted these wines early last week and was really impressed with the quality and pricing.   The first three are on significant discount and the last is extremely allocated.  If you are interested in any of these wines, and would like to purchase, please call the shop or send an email. I will put your order together.  First come first served.

2011 Mahoney, Pinot Noir,  Carneros  Reg $28  Sale $19 Case 12@$17=$204

From the website...."While Carneros Pinots are renowned for their ripe, fresh fruit aromas and flavors, the "Estate" Pinot displays aromatics and flavors more reminiscent of fabulous French Burgundies. There is a mushroom/truffle and cedar component to the nose that evokes memories of the forest floor on a brisk spring morning. In the mouth, flavors of deeply concentrated dark fruits, spice, tobacco, and tea are set upon a silky texture that fills the palate from front to back and molar to molar. This vintage of the "Estate" Pinot may not be typical Carneros, but it is very impressive none the less.

2010 Fleur, Petite Sirah, North Coast,  Reg $19 Sale $16 Case 12 @$14= $168
Fleur de California's Petite Sirah displays intense aromas of blueberries, peppercorn and nutmeg. Dark in color, once in the mouth, it explodes in flavors of blackberries, vanilla, spice and a hint of black pepper. This is a nice quaffing wine that finishes smooth yet bright and is best served with barbequed pork ribs, teriyaki beef dishes or any type of wild game.

2012 Roaring Meg Pinot Noir Central Otago NZ  Reg $22  Sale $19
Case 12 @ $17
2012 ROARING MEG CENTRAL OTAGO PINOT NOIR

GOLD MEDAL - 2014 Decanter World Wine Awards

ROARING MEG CENTRAL OTAGO PINOT NOIR 2012

4.5 stars - Winestate Magazine

2012 Domaine Lafage Bastide Miraflors Vieilles Vignes   Reg. $16  Limited

91 Points Robert Parker   "The 2012 Bastide Miraflors is a blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache aged in a combination of concrete tanks (for the Grenache) and demi-muids (for the Syrah). It went through a six week maceration, which no doubt explains the wine's seriously intense fruit. Notes of violets, forest floor, black cherry jam and blackberries make an appearance in this medium-bodied, high-toned, dense, rich, complex, well-delineated red wine. Drink it over the next several years. "

If you love Chateauneuf-du-Pape, this wine is for you!!!
