Mike Adams is a professor of criminology and sociology at the university of North Carolina Wilmington. Adams has a history of spewing misogynistic, xenophobic, transphobic, homophobic, racist rhetoric. Most recently he wrote an article outing a young woman, using her full name, and mocked her sexuality and religion. Adams's followers have since begun sending death threats to the student, who has now decided to transfer schools.

Adams defends his many years of harassment by citing his right to free speech. However, I would draw your attention to this section of the Seahawk Respect Compact:

Therefore, we expect members of the campus community to honor these principles as fundamental to our ongoing efforts to increase access to and inclusion in a community that nurtures learning and growth for all."

Adams has disrespected the university's promise to provide a safe environment for all individual student, and instead has mocked and ridiculed not only individuals, but entire groups. These actions are not acceptable, and no university should make a student feel unsafe.
