It's ten years since ReSound Community Choir started in Ormskirk and members wanted to celebrate by giving something back to their local community.
And what better way than to support not only one charity this year, but ten different charities who'd all benefit from a busy year of fundraising by the choir!
One was Galloway’s Society for the Blind, a local sight loss charity based in Penwortham, Preston and providing advice, support, specialist equipment, activities and trips to more than 7000 blind and visually impaired people living across Sefton and Lancashire.
The organisation could not operate without donations and legacies, and its voluntary workers, and Galloway’s were presented with a cheque for a fantastic £600. Its name was put forward from choir members Tony Young and Judith Jenkins who both have connections to Galloway’s and often visit their centre in Southport.
Roya Armstrong, Galloway's Community Fundraiser told QLocal this afternoon: “We are so grateful to Sarah, Tony, Judith and all the members of the choir for all their hard work this year and for choosing us as one of their ten charities.
"We would be lost without this kind of support, so on behalf of everyone here at Galloway’s, this amazing donation will go towards helping local people living with sight loss across Lancashire and Sefton.”

Galloway’s is one of Lancashire’s oldest charities. Established in Preston in 1867, the charity has been supporting people with sight loss for 150 years. Today, the charity supports over 7,000 people every year and offers support across Lancashire and Sefton.
The services offered are under seven key areas. Apart from holidays, trips and equipment, services are free at the point of access:
o Early reach support for newly diagnosed people
o Accessible information, advice and guidance
o Holidays and trips
o Social and community groups
o Audio services, including one of the UK’s largest Talking Newspaper services
o Seven independent living bungalows
o Equipment to enhance daily living
Galloway’s is a registered charity and has to raise £1 million this year to maintain its services and relies on donations and legacies from members of the public for the majority of this income.
