Two killed, one injured in firing by Assam Rifles personnel

 Two persons were killed and a woman injured in a firing allegedly by Assam Rifles personnel at Mission Chariali area of Tezpur in lower Assam's Sonitpur district tonight, a senior police officer said.

Tezpur (Assam): Two persons were killed and a woman injured in a firing allegedly by Assam Rifles personnel at Mission Chariali area of Tezpur in lower Assam's Sonitpur district tonight, a senior police officer said.

The incident took place at Patia Chuburi under Tezpur Sadar police station and the cause of the firing was not yet ascertained, Sonitpur Superintendent of Police Sanjukta Parasar said.

Police has rushed to the site and investigation is on, Parasar said, adding that the injured woman, Jinu Das, was admitted at Tezpur Kanaklata Civil hospital.

The local people alleged that the jawans opened fire when a family refused to serve them liquor.

The deceased were identified as Gautam Das and Babu Das.
