A 21-year-old gang-rape victim was allegedly raped by five persons in Rohtak district of Haryana, with two of the accused involved in the first assault three years ago in Bhiwani, the police said on Monday.

The young woman, a Dalit, is a college student in Rohtak. She was gang-raped by some persons in Bhiwani three years ago.

Two of these accused in the Bhiwani incident, out on bail, committed the crime along with three other men in Rohtak on Wednesday last, the police said.

After threatened by the accused to take back the complaint in the Bhiwani incident, the victim’s family shifted to Rohtak, her mother told the police. The family members told the police that she had gone to college on Wednesday morning and did not return. She was found unconscious near Sukhpura Chowk at night, with her clothes torn.

She was rushed to Rohtak Civil Hospital. The family alleged that she was gang-raped because they did not withdraw the case.

“The victim has told us that she was kidnapped by the accused when she was standing at the college gate, taken away in the car and raped,” said Rohtak DSP Pushpa Khatri.

The woman named five accused and “we are hopeful of arresting them at the earliest,” she said.
