Update: Fatal traffic crash, Nandi (west of Dalby)

A 17-year-old woman who sustained critical injuries in a traffic crash at Nandi yesterday has died is hospital.

Around 11.50am, police were called to the Moonie Highway following reports of a serious two vehicle crash.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a van and utility collided on the highway, approximatley five kilometres west of Dalby.

The driver of the van, a 43-year-old Curra man, was found deceased at the scene.

The 17-year-old woman from Weranga was one of the passengers in the van. She was airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries yesterday afternoon.

The driver and passenger in the utility were not injured.

The Moonie Highway was closed for a number of hours while officers from the Forensic Crash Unit conducted investigations.

Investigations are continuing.
