The Brighton Trans*formed Exhibition has arrived!
Following the launch at Trans Pride in Brighton last weekend, Queenspark Books is proud to showcase its Brighton Trans*formed Exhibition Trail!
The Brighton Trans*formed exhibition tells the stories of 23 Brightonian trans, gender, queer and intersex people through photography, audio and object installations. The trail will feature people like Alice, shown here in this photograph by Sharon Kilgannon.
Here's the full run down of what's on until 4th August around the city. See our Facebook page for more updates:
Jubilee Library, July 24 – Aug 4 - Take a seat on Brighton beach deckchairs and immerse yourself in Trans*formed’s recorded stories whilst looking at a large scale photographic display of the participants at their favourite locations around Brighton – all framed in rescued wood from the West pier.
The Marlborough Pub, July 25 – Aug 4- See photographs of everyone taking part in Brighton Trans*formed in this trans-supportive pub, alongside a collection of participant’s favourite things that reflects their trans journeys through their attachments to material things.
From boobs and binders to baseball caps and teddy bears, this touching display is a gentle reminder of just how ordinary we can all be.
Brighton Trans*formed update
The team for our Brighton Trans*formed project are currently finishing the last edits of the upcoming book from this project, which will be coming out in late September 2014. The proofs are looking great and make for a riveting read. There will be a launch event for this in the autumn.
We’re also currently working with a website designer who will be building the Brighton Trans*formed website so people’s stories and experiences can be accessed from anywhere.
