For the 2015 Tour de France, Cannondale-Garmin riders will wear a special, limited-edition jersey designed by Castelli, the team’s Italian clothing partner.

In early July, the kit will also be made available to the public on a limited basis.

The essentials — the distinctive Cannondale and Garmin logos, namely — are retained in the new design. It’s the colours, notably, that have been shaken up, with the logos appearing in reverse black with Cannondale’s recognizable shade of green. Slipstream Sports’ signature argyle design is also strikingly presented, displayed in blue on both the front and the back.

“We’re really excited about the Tour de France kit,” said Slipstream Sports CEO Jonathan Vaughters. “The lighter colour is perfect for hot weather and our signature argyle is more prominent.”

The hot weather of summer is also underscored by Castelli’s brand manager Steve Smith, referring to what makes this design for the Tour de France different. “We consider the Tour de France a very special event that deserves a special design,” he said, first and foremost. “This team is rider-centric, and Castelli has done its part to make sure the riders have the most comfortable and technically advanced clothing for this big event.”

“Racing in hot weather,” he explained, “is physically demanding. That’s a given, and despite the fact that Castelli makes some of the lightest and coolest fabrics in existence, wearing a lighter colour will make a big difference, both psychologically and physically.”

With a limited release, the new Cannondale-Garmin Tour de France gear will be available early next month at Castelli dealers, as well as online at shopslipstreamsports.com.
