The American legends are in the country for Splendour In The Grass and, somehow, the UOW UniBar has managed to snag a sideshow for their national tour. They play the university on July 31. Tickets are on sale now.
■ The Pinheads start their mini-tour this week. They played in Sydney on Thursday night, and they're also playing Rad on Saturday night with D'Luna, Hoon and Claire & The Cops, then backing up on Sunday afternoon for an outdoor backyard show at Finbox in Thirroul with Solid Effort and Colliderz.
■ A special acoustic show is happening at Music Farmers on Saturday afternoon, with Richie from Tumbleweed and Blackie from Sydney outfit Hard-Ons sharing the stage. Both men will play solo sets from 4pm at the Wollongong record store. Entry is free.
■ Tyne-James Organ, of indie group Blueberry Circuit, has been added to the UOW End of Exams party next month. Organ joins rapper All Day on the gig, with whom he collaborated on an amazing cover of Chet Faker's track, Talk Is Cheap, last year. Get your tickets now for the June 25 show.
■ Hockey Dad's big national tour is getting close, with most shows sold out or very close to, and the Windang duo have added a big list of support bands to the gig. Joining the entire run will be Sydney garage rockers Los Tones, led by Bodie Jarman of former Wollongong outfit Mother & Son. For their Wollongong shows at Rad Bar, My Little Underground will join the bill on June 14, while Solid Effort are also playing on the June 20 gig.
■ A great show coming up at Rad will be Step-Panther with Kaleidoscope, The Pinheads and Jon Dory. The gig is sponsored by Sailor Jerry, and should be an awesome night of local rock. Tickets will sell out.
■ Punk dudes Jacob have been added to the Against Me/Joyce Manor show at the Unibar on June 1.
■ The Crimson Horror launched their debut EP this week. You can hear Only Pop Can Save You Now on the band's Bandcamp page.
