Commissioner Ian Stewart announced the launch of new eye-catching livery for Queensland Police Service motorcycles yesterday, together with Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services Jack Dempsey.
The new colours on the motorcycles will increase visibility for Road Policing across the state.
Where the decals have traditionally been blue and white with orange and yellow trims, they will now be predominantly yellow.
The resulting design provides increased reflective area, greater visibility and increased safety for our officers.
In addition to the new livery on the general fleet of motorcycles, the QPS will also release five motorcycles with a unique Fatal Five design. Each will be marked with one of the Fatal Five messages: speeding, failure to wear seatbelts, fatigue, driving affected by alcohol or drugs and driving distracted.
Commissioner Ian Stewart said that these five motorcycles will be utilised across the state for enforcement duties.
“The community’s safety is our priority and over the past years we have identified that people are becoming more reliant on mobile technology in their daily lives and that using these devices when driving significantly increases crash instances,” Commissioner Stewart said.
“These new motorcycles will support the Fatal Five message around Queensland as they are used for marked police patrols, speed detection activities and random breath and drug testing operations.”
