Communal forces behind unrest in state, says Manik

Communal forces behind unrest in state, says Manik
Agartala: Chief minister Manik Sarkar has said the outfit that is spreading communal tensions across the country is involved in protests demanding a separate tribal state within Tripura.
Addressing the party workers at a meeting recently, Sarkar said a section of tribals were mobilized by the communal groups to disturb the peace and harmony between them and the non-tribals.
This is part of their greater political game.
Without naming BJP and its frontal wings, Sarkar said, “The vested interest groups are instigating the tribals with stories like the Left-Front runs the government for the non-tribals.”
He pointed out that as many as 184 tribal kings had ruled Tripura, but socio-economic and cultural development took place when the Left Front came to power in 1978. Since 1993, the LF government has been working continuously for planned development of the tribal areas in autonomous district councils (ADC).
“It is a conspiracy against the LF government in Tripura by the communal political forces, which is desperately trying to weaken democratic and secular fabrics of the state,” the CM alleged.
He observed that a section of the tribal community was misguided by unrealistic and destructive propositions, but the majority did not believe it. As a result LF could retain ADC in the last election, held early this year. The communal forces are now been guided by the Centre, he alleged and added, “After Modi assumed office as many as 212 attacks on Muslims, 175 attacks on Christens were reported in the past 17 months and now in the name Indianization, Modi is persuading to make India as Hindu state.”
