Description

If you want to show off your respect for the Pelican State, our Louisiana state flag is the right choice for the job. Our Louisiana flags are digitally printed to render the design in vivid colors. Each flag is crafted from nylon, a fade- and weather-resistant material.

We carry Louisiana state flags in a wide range of sizes, from 12” x 18” up to 12’ x 18’. Use the attached canvas heading and brass grommets to mount your flag on an outdoor flagpole to let the whole neighborhood see it. The canvas heading provides strong support for the flag, reducing the risk of tearing, while brass grommets are resistant to rust and wear, making them ideal for outdoor use.

LOUISIANA FLAG HISTORY AND MEANING

Since 1812, when Louisiana first joined the union, the state has gone through a total of 9 different flags. However, the pelican seen on the flag today has been a symbol of Louisiana since the year of its statehood. In 1912, during the state’s centennial, the state legislature recognized the pelican design as the official state flag of Louisiana. The flag later received a more artistic and multicolored rendering in 2010.

The pelican tearing at itself to feed its young is used as a representation of self-sacrifice, as well as a dedication to Louisiana descendants. The words below, “Union, Justice & Confidence,” are the Louisiana state motto.
