City councilor wants to give boost to area beer scene
A city councilor wants to give a boost to the beer scene in Albuquerque.Don Harris has put together a bill to ensure that the city tries to feature local brews at every city-sponsored event where alcohol is served. Harris says it would include Balloon Fiesta, Isotopes games and events at the convention center.He said the city should do everything possible to give local breweries a chance to stand out against big-name beers.“This is a great city, and this is a great small business opportunity, and this is really a thriving jewel in Albuquerque, and we want to announce that and give these folks the opportunity to compete,” Harris said. The council is expected to consider the measure sometime in the next few weeks.
