Amid a heated campaign debate and at least one Constitutional challenge of the Harper government’s new citizenship law, Bill C-24, Conservative MP and Mississauga-Streetsville candidate Brad Butt has cited NDP Leader Tom Mulcair as an example of a Canadian citizen who could have his passport revoked under the law.

In an interview with TAG TV that was uploaded to YouTube on August 5, Butt said Mulcair is a dual citizen who could be deported if he committed “some act of treason,” under bill-C24.

The new controversial provision in Bill C-24 allows the government to revoke Canadian citizenship from dual citizens who are convicted of terrorism, high treason and a number of other serious offences. Blogger Robert Jago posted a clip of Butt in an interview with TAG TV on his blog, The Harper Gang, Tuesday morning.
