This week's new and special...

THREE LITTLE MAIDS FROM SCHOOL ARE WE !!!
Bonnie and Clyde are closely watching over their three little goslings.  Bill has built a safe pen for all of them that gives them exercise space, plenty of food and their own wading pool.   So they already have their routines for the day, which includes plenty of spa time.   And yes, Clyde is participating in raising and protecting the little ones.

VISIT FROM THE CRESTON GARDEN CLUB -
Yesterday afternoon we hosted the Creston Garden Club.  They came for lunch, meeting and a short farm tour. Touring the farm with a group like this is always rewarding for the great questions that gardeners ask.  Everything from potting mix to developing our native bees for pollination. Makes it fun for me as well.

While walkingabout, I reminded them of our Garlic Dinner August 1st and Tomato Walk Weekend September 19th and 20th.  Information for the events and how to sign up will be on the website by the first week in June.

IN THE FIELDS -
Good news - potatoes and fresh sweet garlic heads are almost here -  looking at three weeks at the longest.
Fruit news - stone fruit will be in  but probably not until end of June.  Guys are going back in and working on more apple thinning now.
Beet news - those crazy yellow beets are still on!  Fun to have people guess what they are in a mixed roast.  Jeremy Fox / Rustic Canyon has been doing the most beautiful dishes with them.  I believe there are some wonderful pics on his Twitter.

Not so good news- basically out of spinach and arugula for a few weeks.  Will be able to do some orders this week and then done until next set.
"Soon to be" good news - in honor of the coming bug season, we have ordered a good amount of speckled lettuce seed.  We are doing probably 5 different ones - from romaine to butter - will be fun to see how nice a mix this will be.
