Telu Events’ Mystery Affair: Halloween Speed Dating (A Review)

Who said love and Halloween cannot go side-by-side?

Last October 31, Telu Events had raised the bar a notch higher as they hosted their sixth speed dating event back at Oz Bar, roof deck of Holiday Inn and Suites Makati.

The event was entitled “Mystery Affair” and circled around a 1920’s murder mystery. With the help of their event stylist Mabby Makes (@mabbymakes), accents of black and blood were evident from the setup to set the mood.

Registration opened at 6PM and all participants were given their “date kits” to guide them through the event. The date kit also include gift certificates from one of their sponsors, St. Nails Spa (@st_nails_spa). As a twist, organizers also requested from the ladies to leave one item behind, placed it at plastic bags marked with “evidences” and promised this shall be returned within the event.

To ease the tension, participants can freely select their seats for dinner. Dinner was served 6:30PM.The event proper started shortly after 7PM with Telu’s signature game, Getting-to-Know. The host explained the golden rules and mechanics of speed dating, including not giving your mobile number or contact details, as this will defeat the purpose of the “matching” being done after the event.

 After the introduction, ladies were ushered to their assigned seats. The gentlemen, on the other hand, were asked to select from the pool of “evidences” and were instructed to seat across the numbers written. This shall be their first date. Everyone was given 5 minutes to know their dates, after which, the bell will ring to signal to move on to the next.

From the distant chatters, we heard most topics revolve around work backgrounds, interests and hobbies. Some were shy at first, but after a while, everyone seem to laugh more and have a good time. As quoted by some of the participants:

 At the first break, Chocolate Marble Cheesecake was served to all participants. At the second break, participants were asked to group themselves by 5 and made them solve mystery riddles. We saw how everyone had their competitive spirit up! Winners from the group game were awarded with notebooks from Witty Will Save the World, Co (@titawitty).

Last but not the least activity, participants were given playing cards with “Why are you so charming?” and “Can I see you again?”, the former to be given to the participant you find to be the most friendly, while the latter to be given to the participant you like and would love to date again. At first, we saw hesitation especially from the ladies, but after a while, everyone had the courage to give their cards away. The most friendly pair were given gift certificates from Oz Bar, while the most loveable pair were given prizes from Witty Will Save the World, Co (@titawitty) and St. Nails (@st_nails_spa).

It was definitely a long night. Before closing the event, everyone got their giveaways from sponsors, Smitten Dessert (@smittendeserts) and Pocari Sweat (@pocariid).

Weheard that after sending the matches, there are some who had their second date as of speaking. We wonder how they are now?
