Pones In Public utilizes dance as a non-traditional form of exercise and movement that brings accessible art and physical activity to people.
During Pones In Public, dancers enliven public spaces in various neighborhoods with site-responsive dancing. Performing everywhere from METRO buses to public libraries and grocery stores to parks, the spaces come alive and encourage movement from people who normally may not interact. Families, groups, and strangers engage in a shared experience allowing them to express their creativity, be active and have fun!
This program is free, easy to understand, and engages all ages. The average person can be involved without having to worry about materials or having previous dance knowledge. Pones In Public gives people a shared experience and brings them together as the dancers create a sense of belonging. Pones Inc.’s intent is to help people see public space—and the people inhabiting them—in different ways.
The program promotes and welcomes newcomers, and families with a variety of genres and styles of dance that meet different interests and abilities. Pones In Public invites you to step in and start something.
