HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- Some school districts are beginning to send students home early due to today's winter weather advisory, which includes up to a half-inch of snow in parts of North Alabama.
Students throughout the three Madison County school districts will be dismissed at their regular times, but all afterschool activities are canceled for both systems, including extended day programs and athletic activities.
AL.com's news partner, WHNT News 19, reports the following schools are dismissing early thus far:
Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama - Afterschool activities are canceled
Florida Institute of Technology in Huntsville - Evening classes are canceled
DeKalb County Schools - 10:30 a.m. dismissal
Jackson County Schools - 11:00 a.m. dismissal
Lawrence County Schools - All after-school programs, including LEAP classes and the county tournament basketball games, have been canceled. The basketball semifinal games will all be played on Friday, with the finals on Saturday as scheduled.
LifeGate Academy in Madison - Closed
Limestone County Schools - Dismissing two hours early
Marshall Christian in Albertville - Dismissing at noon
Northeast Alabama Community College - Closing at 4 p.m. and evening classes are canceled
Plumbers and Steamfitters Apprentice Training Centers in Muscle Shoals and Madison - Evening classes are canceled
Union Chapel Christian Academy in Huntsville - Afterschool care and basketball games are canceled
Virginia College of Huntsville - Afternoon and evening classes are canceled
Westminster Christian Academy - All afterschool activities are canceled. Afterschool care will close at 4 p.m.
