IT was no ordinary day down on the farm when a JLS star and a team from CBeebies turned up to film.

Six-year-old William Turner, whose parents run Ellenden Farm in Evesham, was the star of the show as he filmed Down on the Farm with JLS singer JB Gill.

William and several other Evesham schoolchildren picked Marjorie seedling plums from the orchard then visited Simply Seasonal in Wickhamford to make jam.

Sara Turner, proprietor of Ellenden Farm with husband David, said: "William was really excited about it.

"I jumped at the chance to take part but I have to admit my 15-year-old daughter Emily had to tell me who JB was.

"He was lovely, really down to earth.

"It was a brilliant experience and luckily the weather was phenomenal.

"JB was really passionate and supportive about British farming, he really understood how important it is to support local farmers."

Since the band broke up in April 2013, JB has presented the CBeebies programme teaching children about farming and the outdoors.

The filming took place in September and the family, which also includes 14-year-old Toby, are looking forward to watching it together on Friday, November 18 at 5pm.

The following day, Saturday, November 19, the farm will be holding its tenth annual festive tasting day from 11am to 3pm.

Foodies will get the chance to sample award-winning produce from local suppliers including free range turkey, pies, cheese, cakes, drinks, and the farm's own home reared beef.

There will also be a cookery demonstration, arts and crafts, refreshments and Father Christmas will arrive at 12pm by pony and trap to meet the children in the grotto.

Mrs Turner added: "It's a really great community event which helps support local independent traders and educate people about where their food comes from."
