EDINBURG – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's golf team announced the addition of
Shweta Mansingh to the roster for the 2016 spring season.
"The Vaqueros family and our women's golf program are very excited to have Shweta on our team," Vaqueros head coach Risë Alexander said. "She adds considerable depth to our squad. She is a very good ball striker and her short game is excellent. With some collegiate experience she will develop into one of the team's most valuable players."
Mansingh comes to the program from Gurgaon, India where she was one of the top 20 junior golfers in the country. Mansingh brings depth to the Vaqueros that feature a squad with three freshmen, a sophomore and two juniors.
Last summer, Mansingh posted a pair of top-15 finishes as she finished tied for fifth at the IGU Telangana Ladies Amateur Championship and 15
th at the USHA Southern India Ladies Amateur Championship.
The Vaqueros are set to kick off their spring season February 14 at the All There August Challenge, hosted by Texas State University.
