PN MEP Roberta Metsola has been chosen as one of Junior Chamber International's (JCI) "Top 20 Young Outstanding Persons of the World" for her work representing Malta and Gozo in the European Parliament.

JCI is a non-profit organization of young active citizens age 18 to 40 who are engaged and committed to creating impact in their communities. Active citizens are individuals invested in the future of our world. JCI gathers active citizens from all sectors of society.

In a Facebook post, Dr Metsola said: "Coming from Malta makes it such a huge honour to have made the list, and now a public online vote will help chose the top 10 from nominees from countries around the world".

The JCI website reads: "The JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (JCI TOYP) programme honours ten outstanding young people under the age of 40 each year. These individuals exemplify the spirit of the JCI Mission and provide extraordinary service to their communities. Whether through service, innovation, determination or revolutionary thinking, these young active citizens create positive impacts on a local and global level. These ten young active citizens will be honoured during the 2016 JCI World Congress on Thursday, November 3rd in Quebec City, Canada".

"Narrowing the 2016 JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (JCI TOYP) top twenty semi-finalists to the final ten honourees will be done not only by the final judging panel, comprised of representatives of select partner organizations and the JCI President, but also by a public popular online vote".
