JNS.org – In time for Hanukkah 2014, the Temple Institute—a Jerusalem-based organization that says it is “dedicated to every aspect of the Holy Temple of Jerusalem, and the central role it fulfilled, and will once again fulfill, in the spiritual wellbeing of both Israel and all the nations of the world”—has produced what it calls the first pure olive oil in 2,000 years that meets the religious-legal standards of the oil used for the Jewish Temple’s menorah.
The oil, which the Temple Institute said required “decades of painstaking research and preparation,” will be featured in a festive procession through Jerusalem’s Old City on the 7th night of Hanukkah. The video below shows how the Temple Institute oil was harvested and prepared.
