Earthquake: 4.0 quake strikes near Baker

A shallow magnitude 4.0 earthquake was reported Monday morning 34 miles from Baker, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 2:21 a.m. PDT at a depth of 1.2 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 43 miles from Barstow and 47 miles from Twentynine Palms.

In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
