WTAE Channel 4 will examine the modern resurgence of Pittsburgh and the local men and women behind its prosperity. After the collapse of the steel industry, the region was faced with the same economic and social challenges that have left some American cities in urban decay. The primetime special showcases the success of Pittsburgh and many downtrodden neighborhoods that now boom. Chronicle: The New Pittsburgh will air on WTAE Channel 4 on Monday, September 15 at 10:00pm, immediately following the season premiere of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. “This installment of Chronicle identifies the certain demise Pittsburgh faced and the people who fought with passion and purpose to advance our city into the 21st century,” said WTAE President & General Manager, Charles W. Wolfertz III Chronicle Host Sally Wiggin is joined by Pittsburgh’s Action News Anchor Mike Clark in this primetime special dedicated to the fascinating turn of events in the 1990’s, setting Pittsburgh on a course of success that is hailed as a model for similar regions across the country.“The steel city was in danger of fading completely from its once prominent role,” said Chronicle Host Sally Wiggin. “Many of us remember how the disintegration of heavy manufacturing caused so many to suffer and even leave the city they loved. But a spirit of resiliency and ingenuity eventually transformed the city into a vibrant and progressive place,” she added. “Our show features the turning point in Pittsburgh’s history that everyone can be proud of,” said Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 Anchor Mike Clark. “Viewers will also see all the exciting changes that continue to grow Pittsburgh into a leading, modern-day city.” Chronicle: The New Pittsburgh originally aired on Monday, September 15, 2014.
