10 o’clock list: Childhood Movies to Rewatch Tonight

(via skymovies)

It’s Wednesday, there’s no trivia, and our mid-semester “To Do” piles are steadily growing. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still drink a lot of wine and end the night crying! I’ve done some research and come up with five suggestions to curl up with in your bed and soothe you into the ultimately unsatisfying stupor we call “sleep.”

1. Homeward Bound. This movie is my Before All Else (not, as I accidentally said last night, Before Everything Else, which would make it my BEE. Which I kinda like too). If you’re looking for nostalgia in its purest form, it’s Chance, Sassy, and Shadow trekking their way through the desert. Also this was really funny to me for some reason:

2. Chicken Run. Too often I find myself watching a claymation movie and thinking, “This is fine, but I really wish there were more chickens.” I had this baby on VHS and now it’s on Netflix and can be played on repeat without that pesky rewinding business.

3. Freaky Friday. If those two songs by Pink Slip weren’t the two first songs that you ever downloaded onto an iPod then you are LYING to me. This movie has everything: a motorcycle-riding Chad Michael Murray with shaggy hair, a cartilage-pierced Jamie Lee Curtis pre-Activia. The list goes on.

4. Stuart Little. A Saturday morning favorite, this movie can only be watched wearing PJs and socks, sipping chocolate milk.

5. The Exorcist. And finally, a classic for all of us. Who among us didn’t curl up after our nightly bath with our stuffed animals and watch the devil be slowly and painstakingly extracted from a woman’s body? Certainly not I!
