Horsham, Pa. - The Penn State Abington men's soccer team wrapped up their regular season Monday night with a 5-1 loss at the hands of Eastern University.
Abington got behind just two minutes into the game when Eric Giovagnoli's shot beat Abington goalkeeper
Sean Seidenburg (Rockledge, Pa.) to give Eastern a 1-0 lead.
Benjamin Barnhart would make it 2-0 Eastern in the 32
nd minute after his eight yard strike found its way to the back of the net. The Eagles would extend their lead to 3-0 less than two minutes later when Andrew Ferman found himself one-on-one with Seidenburg, and deposited the ball into the net. Giovagnoli garnered an assist on the play.
Eastern outshot Abington 7-2 in the first half. Seidenburg made two saves.
Hunter Rosenberg and John Remsberg would each score for Eastern in the 54
th and 70
th minutes respectively to give the Eagles the commanding 5-0 lead.
Sean Cardamone (Philadelphia, Pa.) would score his first collegiate goal in the 88
th minute to make the game 5-1.
Abington was outshot 15-5 for the game. Seidenburg made five saves.
With the loss, the Nittany Lions finish the regular season with a 4-8-4 record (4-3-3 NEAC). They will return to action this Saturday November 1
st for their first-round playoff matchup against Wells College. Game time is for 2:00 p.m. in Aurora N.Y.
