PORTLAND, Ore. – Western Oregon University's track & field student-athlete Zach Holloway was named Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) Track Athlete of the Week following his performance Saturday at the WWU/Ralph Vernacchia Invitational, as announced Monday by the conference office.

Holloway, a junior distance runner, was the top collegiate competitor and placed second overall in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a lifetime best and provisional national qualifying time of 9:16.39 Saturday at Civic Stadium in Bellingham, Washington.

In the process, Holloway also lowered his season-best time by more than five seconds en route to moving up to third on the GNAC performance list in the event.

This is the second GNAC weekly award of the season for the Wolves, while Holloway earns his first-ever conference award.

Western Oregon will return to action on Thursday and Friday, April 30 & May 1, at the OSU High Performance Meet beginning with field events at noon and track events at 4 PM at the Whyte Track & Field Center in Corvallis.

A pair of Wolves are also competing today and tomorrow – Monday and Tuesday, April 27 & 28 – at the GNAC Multi-Event Championships on the campus of Saint Martin's University in Lacey, Washington.
