George North: Four Northampton tries 'not a bad day at office'

George North says his four-try display in Northampton's 34-6 win over Ospreys was "not a bad day at the office".

The 22-year-old Wales international wing was unstoppable as impressive Saints halted the Welsh region's unbeaten start to the season.

He crossed twice in each half, culminating in a superb solo effort to earn his team a bonus point.

"I was happy with my performance, and obviously the fourth try finished it off nicely," he said.

"It's definitely up there. Not a bad day at the office really."

Northampton's win kick-started their European Champions Cup campaign following a 20-11 defeat against Racing Metro last week.

But it was a tough lesson for the Ospreys, who could have lost more heavily if the Saints had not had two first-half tries disallowed for forward passes.

The 42-times capped North - who joins up with the Wales international squad for the autumn Tests on Monday - said the victory was a team effort.

"It's not just me it's the whole team," he said.

"We knew if we all came out from one to 23 and played our best and beat our opposite man then we'd come away [with a win].

"We knew we needed to have a big week to get back on to the front foot in European competition and I think as a squad we just stepped up."

The former Scarlets player expects a mixed reception when he reunites with Warren Gatland's squad for Tests against Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and South Africa.

"We're back on Monday morning, [so] I may get a few funny looks from the Ospreys boys," he said.

"But we're all there for one purpose and hopefully we can get over it quickly and move on."
